Horse kicking out whilst hacking

Will try and keep this short

Went for a hack on tue' s me and one outher have hacked together for nearly a year never a problem

Went on a normal route only difference was we had one canter through the woods, but nothing else saw one car, no spooks etc a good hack in general

On way home my mare turned her bum on other horse also a mare but I pulled/kicked her round and all was fine gave her a telling off - verball and put her up front and made her walk on.

Bout 5 mins latter friend rides up side and I said carefull and as I said it she turned and double barrelled other mare, missed thank god. Friend went up font for the rest of the way home bout 10/15 mins my mare just grumpy

Turned her out in field with other pony all fine

Any ideas?

My mare generally is like this just before she due her season, gets very mareish and tends to be worst when coming home when riding in company and will have a go at the other horse, got wise to it now and keep an eye on her so not too close and I watch her body language and can usually tell when she likely to do it.
