These attacks do crop up every now and then and I’ve never heard of anyone being charged with one, let alone convicted. There was a beautiful black colt killed near me about 10 years back now, and his owner never got over it.

When I lived in the Uk over 40 years ago, I had a beautiful ArabX filly attacked in her field overnight. My other 3 youngsters were with her but they were unharmed. I will not detail the injuries as they were unpleasant and I find it difficult to think of even now, but she did recover but was never able to become a riding horse. There had been a spate of similar attacks in that particular area over the proceeding couple of years. I don't think anybody was ever caught for any of the incidents. Sick and totally depraved.
