My horse is slightly lame in trot, 2 days after hitting a foot on a jump which has shown itself as a slight red bruise on the front of his hind hoof near to the top.

Could he be lame because of the bruise or is it a coincidence? He’s going to the vet for a lameness work up Thursday anyway but just wanted some people’s opinions as I am so upset that it could be something degenerative as he’s 21 today, no history of lameness before.

No swelling, no heat, no puffiness, completely sound in walk.

Thanks ever so

Yep definately could be causing the lameness, my horse has been lame for 6 weeks with deep seated bruising to her front feet, even now I am only working her on a surface until all of the buising has grown out.

I thought knowing my luck it was going to be something really serious but the farrier came to shoe her the other day and showed me all of the bruises in her feet. Pads between the shoes and her feet have help especially with this hard ground that we have at the moment

Fingers crossed yours will be fine but will just take time.
