Hi, my gelding went lame a couple of weeks ago, he could barley walk and was trying not to put his heel to the floor on his front leg. The next day he was fine and I thought maybe he'd just twinged something, but then he went lame again. I called the vet and she said get the farrier out, farrier found a deep hole with a but of muck quite high up so dug it out and tried to put a poultice on, he managed to keep one on for two days and after that I kept a field boot on and tried to keep it clean.
Farrier came back out yesterday and said hole had healed up ok and he looked nearly sound, and put a shor back on. today he can barley walk again, again trying not to put his heel to the ground
Any ideas what it could be?
I'm going to have to get the vet back out I know but I'm worried it's something serious.
