I have a mercedes - its so easy to drive and doesnt intimidate me. Only trouble is the computer on board ... if it thinks something isnt working, it says it cant possibly start ! To run the computer software at the commercial merc dealership it costs £100/hr
Other than that I highly recommend them. Will have to change to a bigger lorry this year to house the shire.
We've had a DAF for just over a year & have had no cr*p whatsoever out of it (touch wood) which makes a nice change after all our other lorries, which seemed to be permanently sick...
I loved my Merc 813. It was 30 years old before we had to scrap it as the floor was rotten. It never broke down, always started and easy to drive (so my parents told me) We now have a Iveco Eurocargo it does the job and is good at starting but I miss my old lorry so much.
I have a leyland Terrier. Its ancient (older than me) but other than having to replace the battery this year its very reliable. Also its easy to drive and a true 7.5tonne with one very large horse on board its 6tonne so plenty of room to play with!
Have recently upgraded my trusty old F reg baby cargo 609 (6t) of the last 10 years to a shiny (almost new) DAF 45/150 and cant believe the difference. Loved my baby cargo, but I must admit I am really enjoing driving the DAF (now have power steering for the first time - lush!) drove several lorries in the quest for this one - tried a Eurocargo but couldnt get the gearbox at all... a newer Cargo was OK, but the DAF does drive like a car....
