Horse losing hair?

Creature has lost two patches of hair, tripled in size this week alone. The patches are on his lower chest. The areas are fairly scabby. I put on sudocreme, they got bigger. I've got a vet looking tomorrow (handy that best mate's bf is an equine vet!) but any ideas? I was thinking ringworm. There are no other patches.

My little mare has developed a similar skin issue - she has never had skin problems before then scabs appear under her long mane, and she has lost hair.

The vet had a look and siad it was a bacterial infection and quite common. He told me to wash the area wiht Hibbiscrub and rub away the scabs and told me to apply an antibacterial gel he gave me.

Well it cleared, hair started to grow back and now but has returned - aargh

Have you washed all of your rugs and brushes since she had the infection? You are probably reinfecting her if not!!

Try washing it with hibiscrub or something else anti-bacterial? Only thing I can think of. Also, is his worming up to date? My friend's horse hadn't been wormed since he arrived from the dealers, and he started getting bald patches. Wormed him and the hair started growing back... Just a thought! xx

Sounds like it may b rain scald. I got sum antiseptic spray from Asda and used that twice s day. Then when scabs were looking better Sudocream. X
