I bought my horse in apr/may this year in very poor condition and had just been clipped by previous owners. He has been shedding his coat pretty much all the time I've had him.
He is now of good condition (a bit of topline to build- but no spine or ribs showing now! )
But he has really started to lose his summer coat now. I am looking to do trailblazer showing with him at the end of the month, should I clip him? Or will he be the only one clipped? Or any tips on how to minimise the shedding so he looks half decent to show?
Hes skewbald so it shows up quite badly.

has he actually started to show a winter coat yet? if he has, clip 2 weeks before your show and rug well inbetween, should have a decent summer looking coat if you clip the 2 weeks before and then keep him warm (but not hot).

if he isnt showing a winter coat yet then you CAN stop it, but you will have to keep him as warm as you can (without him being too hot,but never allowed to be cold),and he'll need a full neck rug and leg wraps to keep the coat even.

No winter coat showing yet. he did have a lightweight on when the weather went a bit chilly and wet the other week. And I was planning to keep it on, but he just gets too hot unfortunately.
I'll pop it on him today and see how he goes.
Thanks for the advice
