We are looking to get some rubber matting for the horses stables to reduce the cost (and time!) over winter!

I have used traditional rubber mats in the past but people have been saying different things about these, the EVA mats, and cow mats!

Whats everyones experiences with matting and what would people recommend? Our problem is we dont have great amounts of money to shell out in the first instance!

I don't know the makes or different types, what I do know is there are heavier ones and lighter ones! Go for the lightest you can that will still do the job as it makes cleaning them out much much easier!! It used to be a 3 man job with the ones I had!!

Though they aren't the cheapest on the market, I would always go to Equimat. I have equimat in all my stables - they are a good thickness (I think they come in a couple of different thicknesses now), and are easy to pick up to clean as and when you want to.

I replaced one stables mats last year, and we worked out that the mats we took up had been down for about 12 years - so can't complain too much about that!! :)
