Hi everyone im new to this forum but just wanted peoples advice. I brought my horse casper to the vet yesterday to have him microchipped. As the vet was checkin it two other numbers appeared as well as the chip number he was after putting in. Now i bought casper 3 years ago he had no passport with him and the only reason i was micrchipping him is to register with the sjai. My main question is does any one know how i can trace these numbers and should i be worried. The main problem is i am in ireland so does anyone know how to trace him. Please help or advise.

Yes there can if the numbers were registered and i am very surprised that wasnt picked up before
. When i got 6 yr old she had a chip already in her so the vet had to check she wasnt stolen ect . As they scan before they put a chip in them usually . But luckly she wasnt stolen ..

The vet will contact pet id with the chips nubers and they will tell them if they been registered or not . If there not then the vet shall register the horse in your name .

Microchipping - Ireland

Fido
Fido was founded in 2004 to help reunite lost pets with their owners by providing a 24-hour recovery service for pets identified with a microchip. The stored information relating to each registered microchip number is maintained on a database in the greater Dublin area and this information, which will include the address and contact phone numbers of the owner, will be provided to pre-approved organisations engaged in efforts to locate the owners of lost or injured animals. Examples of approved organisations are Veterinary Surgeries, welfare organisations and local authority pounds
