Horse mouth ulcer?

Brought Belle in today.... noticed that she had a ulcer look alike in the inside of her top lip. She isn't being ridden at the moment as she has foal at foot. Recently she has been head shaking a lot, not sure if this is anything to do with it.

Any suggestion of what this could be?

Looks like the flies have got to it poor Belle!
Could have started as a cut or an irritation. Are there any nasties in the field?
I'd change paddocks, put some cream on and turn out in a nose net to try and keep the bugs away. If it doesn't look as if it is healing over the next day or two get a vet out.

Yes she does have a few not many though,and she seems to eatng around them we do slightly remember her having this last yr and it cleared up on its own and she was in a paddock with no buttercups.
