My 18 Month Colt has to leave the herd as I have been asked to leave (The owner of the other horses has also been asked to leave) The lease is up. I am moving him next week to a DIY with individual turn out. The turn out situation isn't really what I wanted as he has been in a herd since 7 months but liveries are really limited especially for a colt and I tried really hard to find a livery with a herd but where I could manage him. I am relieved in a way he is leaving the place he is now only because I can't manage him from there. You cant feed him, do his feet properly and the game keeper has been very rude when you try to go in and see to him. I've tried to keep on top of things but it has been super hard so knowing I will be able to take things into my hand will be good but I am panicking about the set up.
He will be next to others but not with them, Will he be lonley or stressed? Not just that but I am dreading moving day, leaving all his friends :( I feel so sad for him! It is giving me deep anxiety.

Please don't move an 18 month old (or any age really) to individual turnout.

Can you find youngstock or grass livery for him as part of a herd?
unfortunately not and if I am honest most of the youngstock liveries DO NOT meet the expectations around here!
I have tried pretty much everywhere and there is no one who would take him first as a colt. I do not have the option to castrate before hand either.

Stressed for sure and very possibly f*cked for life because he‘ll have been deprived of socialising with other horses during a critical learning period. Which will make putting him on group turnout later on more challenging.

As Equi says, geld him at the new place and then find him a herd.
