Around 3 weeks ago my boy looked a little lame and over the course of the next few days became much worse, I thought it was his right hind. Having no idea why but I knew he was in a bit of pain and the vet was down in a few days I got them to have a look. It turned out it was his right fore and it was either a bruise or a brewing abscess.

So the shoe was pulled and I was advised to box rest him for a week and dry poultice( he already has soft soles). No abscess came from the poulticing. There was no real smell of infection. He stayed in in the end for around 10 days and went out once, after the box rest. I padded his foot up but he came in from the field with no padding on at all.

The following day my farrier was down to reshoe him and we tried our first set of pads . By now my horse appeared my foot sore front not having a shoe. But since the pads have been put on ( last Monday) he as really been right and still been a little lame. He does seem a little better but still not right. Its gone from my horse giving me his right fore when I asked for his left fore to now he is letting me have his left fore no issues but there is quite a lot of heat just above the coronet band, at least there was tonight. Farrier said if he had bruised it before the shoes went on it might take a few weeks... But he still isn't right. Vet is back on out Monday anyway and the farrier said to see hoe he is on Monday.
