Have never heard of this poor horse! The only thing I can think of (and I'm sure you have also) is turning him out? Could it be stable stress? Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Most horses with sleep deprivation are horses that are kept alone. They don't sleep because they are a prey animal and there is no one else to stand guard. But if your boy has company then his problems lie elsewhere. He obviously does not feel safe enough to sleep. Hopefully the change of yard will help him.

I have heard of this before. From what I recall, the horse in question wasn't sleeping because he was out with the herd and was super vigilant. His owner brought him in at night and gave him a very quiet, secluded stable and lots of peace. It took a little while, but he started lying down after a week or so, and the problem resolved itself.
Have you tried valerian-type calmers in his feed?
Is his stable in a nice quiet place? Does he have a friend nearby (or solitude if he needs that)?
Is he in a settled routine, so he is comfortable with when he gets fed, goes out, comes in etc?
Are you calm and reassuring around him?

What about a large stable and find him a Shetland or something to keep him company? I know there's two views on this but our shetlands have often buddyed up like this with no trouble. One of our Shetlands is currently befriending out stabled fence jumping foal to try and chill him out. Hope your horse gets some zzzzzs soon
