Hoping one of you has a wonderful tip to help me out!

Some kind soul very kindly put all my rugs on the floor of a flooded stable (melted snow and pee)

I have washed them all (at laundrette) twice and they still stink of horse wee.

Can anyone recommend a way to get rid of the smell without having to chuck all my rugs?!

Thanks and hot chocolate all round!

Try Febreezing them maybe?

Why chuck your rugs if they smell of pee? As long as they are clean I wouldn't worry. Just give them a good airing when it stops raining.

Try washing them with Sainsburys own "Linen" comfort - it is very strong smelling and I use it for all horsewashing and it does get rid of the odour. It also was the only thing that would work to get rid of the revolting smell of smoke after a fire.

Open them out and hang them somewhere dry to air off, outside if you can. Not much else you can do apart from Febreeze as above.

I am currently storing them at home and the OH is not too happy about the smell!! I obv don't want to get rid.

tried febreeze, didnt work unfortunately but many thanks for the reply!

If you are able, soak each rug overnight in a bucket with a good scoop of bicarbonate of soda, drain, dry as much as possible and then wash in the machine again with a non bio and you will have smell free rugs.
