My horse has seemed to have developed a new habit which is peeing on rugs:o

Basically keep my rugs on a piece of string which is tied to the wall (i don't like having rug racks in my stable) and it turns out that he keeps on pulling the rugs down and peeing on them? when i come up to stables, there is always one that has a certain part of it drenched in horse pee?:eek:

does your horse do this and why do you think it does it? Is there any way i can stop it except taking my rugs home (too much of a hassle)?
thanks:)

Yep - mine does, I never leave anything in the stable but if I have a memory laps and leave one over the wall he'll drag it down and pee all over it - every time!

No idea why but it's gross so I just avoid leaving rugs he can get hold of !

with my horse, it always happens to his stable rug. maybe it could be the smell of it that he doesn't like? maybe he likes it smelling of 'Odour de Horsey':D:rolleyes:

I have rug rails in the stables. One of mine is an angel, one night i left a rug on the rail with the fillet string facing out and when i got there in the morning he was wearing it like a huge bib without a care in the world. The other one however gets his down and pees on them about 4 times a year, suspect it is when he is rubbing his bum! The only option is if you are in a barn to hang the string on the front of the stable i suppose.............
