Had issues two summers ago. Nose net. Vaseline. Antihistamine. Last summer ., needed nothing. No issues. This year she’s struggling. Yesterday was regularly stopping to rub nose. Flipping top lip. Despite all preventative measures. My road side is absolutely full of cow parsley. And every tree and bush seems to be shedding blossom.

Both mine and another I know have suffered hugely this year compared to other years. We are on supplement plus nose net. Other pony ended up with antihistamines being prescribed she was so bad!

In the Spring / Summer of 2023 my mare was so bad I thought I wouldn’t be able to ride her. I tried everything, herbal / vet prescribed / nose nets etc etc.

Then last Spring / Summer - nothing. Felt that maybe it was just a fluke in 2023 so I was abit lapse and didn’t prepare for this year. Big mistake, it’s awful 🥲

I do feel I have found a routine that works for her though and I seem to have got on top of it quickly, next year I will start at the beginning of March. If this is of any use, this is what I’m finding working:

1. Checking the Pollen levels on a daily basis, if moderate / high then she goes out in the field with a fly mask with nose net and ridden in a nose net.

2. If Pollen levels low, then I will just smear some Vaseline around her nostrils.

3. She is currently on her second bottle of AH181 from Trinity Consultants, once finished I will see how she is and hopefully she won’t need any further supplement for this year.

4. Beginning of March along with the fly mask / nose net routine I will start her on Candlewick Oil from Trinity Consultants which should hopefully help.

I spent a small fortune with the vets in 2023 and nothing seemed to help much.

Yes exactly the same as me. Absolutely fine last summer. Not great year before. This year …. Awful
