a 12k horse and a 3k horse? Especially since prices are so low at the moment?

I'm thinking of treating myself to a reasonably expensive horse for showjumping, having never spent more than 3k on one before. Having read the descriptions of some of the adverts for more expensive horses, not sure I'd really be happy spending 8k on a horse thats still jumping Discovery aged 8, or 13k on a quite ordinary 5 year old doing British Novice, but with potential. Or at least I'm thinking I could get much the same but spend much less money! (and I did, with my current horse).

Any ideas what I should be looking for for around 10k? I'd either like a horse below 8 thats at least winning prize money at Newcomers and doing that comfortably with realistic potential to go on to 1.25, or the other option is to go for a Grade A type thats over 12 but has a few good seasons left - though I'm not sure I'd be happy benefitting from someone else's work in "making" the horse although it might be good for my riding.

For 8k when the market was tonnes better we got a horse winning newcomers and ready to do foxhunter, the same horse sold last spring for 4k.

In the current marjet for 10k I would think you could get a horse doing well in foxes with scope to go further.

Hope this helps and best of luck :)

I'll also add to have a look on horse quest as for a search of Grade B showjumpers the first two results very much caught my eye, a Grade A for £7,500 competing at 1.40s and a Grade B at £5750 competing at 1.20s. Just shows the incline in the market if you ask me because horse slike that would never have been in my budget when I was looking.
