Can someone give me an idea of the increases/decreases of price from season to season?

I know it's very subjective but just wondering, I've literally stayed well away from anything horse for so long (I tend to get a tad obsessed otherwise, much better now :) )

Does the purchase prices wildly swing from season to season for say an allrounder?

Generally horses are prob more meg just before / during winter as the owner saves feeding/managing them, but it really does come down to the individual situation.

I think prices remain much the same for a good proven allrounder whatever time of year, whether they sell is another matter but the good ones are in demand throughout the year, in fact looking in the winter can be hard as less are advertised. Cheaper types will be offered for less in the winter as they are less valued so owners will drop the price to save feeding over winter, there are always some for sale that are cheap for genuine reasons but that can be all year round.

Well I have noticed how much more the prices are just in the adverts at the top of the page! Since the New Year the prices have gone up A LOT - or maybe it is the better type of horse being advertised.

I think it is that the better ones are held until the new year, if not sold at the end of the season waiting until after Christmas makes sense, I find people really start looking around half term, end of Feb once the days are getting longer, I have a client looking now but as she works full time it can be hard to get out to see any at the weekend with her other commitments.

I don't think prices change that much TBH, if anything they're a tad cheaper at the end of the summer when people are going off to college or wanting to get rid of grown out of ponies once they've finished doing the season and don't want to keep them over the winter. I also think that people hang off buying over winter but tend to start looking around now.

A good horse will sell at any time if priced right.
