Just wondered if anyone else has this problem,he is fine in the field with them and when ridden, but this is the second time in two weeks he has done it in the stable and is now quite sore as its the same foot?

One of mine has bar shoes on and lives in XL over reach boots. Sometimes they do get ripped, but I only buy the very cheap velcro ones, so I always keep a pair in reserve. £6.99 a pair is cheaper than the farrier repeatedly, not to mention, better for his feet.

People always say that! "oh he will just pull the overreach boot off" it actually pisses me off as they are often people who blame their farriers for everything. Anyway. Eggbar shoes should always have overreach boots 24/7 due to the amount of metal sticking out the back. If you know your horse will pull overreach boots off my are you surprised that he pulls shoes off? Put overreach boots on and here is a novel idea, if he pulls them off put them back on again!! Better than having the shoe ripped off which as you said causes your horse pain. It's just common sense sorry!!!

Can I strongly suggest you try the Woof Wear Kevlar Overreach boots - they are made extra deep so ideal for bar shoes. My boy was a menace for pulling shoes off until he wore those permanently - they didn't do him any harm and once his feet settled down and he went back to normal shoes he was fine.

You can trim them if you need to. Also paying £6.99 each time he wreaks a pair is daft - just buy one pair of these for approx £30 (depends what size you need, could be less) and they should last for ages! Thats already saved you 4 pairs of cheap, crap ones and how many trips to a tack shop!

Another vote for these, absolutely brilliant & very tough! A few times he's pulled them off by ripping the velcro away from the boot but a couple of quid to the local saddler soon fixes that. He lives in them, the only time they come off is when he's shod, but in nearly 18months I've never had a rub.
