My gelding is a little clumsy in the field especially when we change fields and shreds rubber overreach boots and then rips his shoes off (not all the time but maybe every 3/4 months- regularly enough to be annoying)- have bought some neoprene ones to try when his fronts get put back on, but a friend just emailed this link and i wondered if anyone here had tried them???

I haven't tried them yet, but I've just printed off the info and posted it to my farrier for his opinion so I shall watch this thread with interest. I'm hoping to get positive feedback from my farrier as I'm sure I'd save money on refitting lost shoes and vets bills for over reach injuries.

Unfortunately he could't cope at all with out shoes he has thin soles and the stoney forests paths i ride on would 'do him in'- he was unshod behind when he came and hated it. My farrier has worked hard to improve his feet as he had chunks of wall missing when he came to me where when he pulled the shoe off the wall went too- that not longer happens thank goodness, and the difference in his feet is amazing. He's just a close coupled loon when the mood takes him in the field- especially if he's moved to a new field with new neighbours to get excited about.

I too have asked my farriers opinion as I completely trust him. I will have a look at the option digitangel suggested as I do fear he may do himself some serious damage

ive just bough a pair of kalvakade safetyba boots which are along the same lines but are fitted as boots that protect the heel area.

heres a pic

my horse is very short-coupled and has recently lost a shoe despite having overreach boots on 24x7. i am hoping these will help.

I've also sent the link to my farrier but think the shoesucure offers more protection around the side too, but i'll take his advise- that what i pay him for!

They are fab have only lost one shoe since we have been using them (which is only because he was hooning round the field like a blimming idiot for 4hours straight)
They are a bit of a faff putting them on every day and you get very mucky taking them off but well worth it IMO x

Hi a friend was looking at them for her horse, but at the moment they are only desighned for t/o not riding, aparently they are working on ones for riding at the mo ..

Hi, my mare has got really poor front feet and often pulls her shoes off! I have had her in shoe secure for 2 weeks now and so far so good. Very little dirt has collected down the back of them much less than gathers in your rubber over reach boots. She is out over night and wears them constantly and no signs of rubbing. I do take them off daily to clean and check. These aren't for riding in although a new lower profile design are being tried and tested. Overall a great product.
