Hi Everyone on this forum :)

I have owned my cob since February and since owning him I have lost a good 1/2 stone in weight and feel well toned because of the initial mucking out each morning (this was when he was in each night) and because I ride 4 times a week.

My partner seems to think (irritatingly) that horse riding is not exercise! He says "You just sit on a horse, the horse does all the work" Grrr!!

When I try to tell him otherwise, he just can't see it, although he has noticed my weight loss but puts it down to the extra running around I do with trying to fit my horse into my otherwise busy lifestyle.

Men eh??

totally agree and it doesnt half beat a gym! Plus ive been without a car for 6 weeks and my yard is 30 min walk away - i go daily so with that and the riding im skinnier then i have been in years! love it!

I have to agree, perfectly brilliant exercise! I've ridden with a heart rate monitor on before and burnt far more calories in the half hour schooling session I did than the half hour cycle home (monitored both for comparison!)

If your partner disagrees I say challenge him to have a lesson and see how much he hurts the next day!!! ;)

My OH is exactly the same, he says all you do is sit there, the horse does all the work! He won't get on one however so I can show it is actually hard xx
