Antifaz has been rubbing his tail. There are a few other horses at the yard have been doing it too. A is properly wormed, though I can't speak for the other horses... I think most worming programmes are a bit haphazard. I was wondering if it could be mites (can't see anything?) or some other little beasties and what can I put on his tail to stop the evident itching.

It's summer here and I've been using Equimax, which kills pinworm

our horse did this last year and there was no signs of sweet itch, worms or lice... we had the vet out in the end and they gave us some of there homemade "pink lotion" which didnt work either. Has he had any changes of diet..or lots of grass ? we found the answer was to take him off all foods with sugar in them..dodson and horrell especially bad. We put him on a system called simple system which is lucerne based and has no added anything ! he has been fine ever since but we still have to watch intake of carots and things like stable licks...it can all add up to a horrendos amount of sugar. hope this helps kx

Diet is exactly the same as always; oats and alfalfa. He doesn't get carrots or anything like that (evil mum!

) I'm treating it as fungal infection at the mo; have washed with malaseb and will apply a cream tomorrow and see if it improves.
