The other day I noticed my pony had a runny nose, it was after I lunged him I noticed and it was just a small amount of clear/ white discharge. The morning after I noticed some white/ clear discharge in his feed bucket.
Then this morning (which is 3 days later) I noticed a lot more discharge. Same colour/ texture but just in a bigger quantity. i can’t say for definite it’s the same nostril but both photos it’s coming from the left.
I haven’t changed his routine recently, still the same bedding (fine shavings) and same hay.
There is one other horse on the yard who is absolutely fine and my pony hasn’t come into contact with any others.
the other lady on the yard blames me for not rugging him, it’s been nice weather, he’s not clipped and he’s a hardy pony so I never thought I needed to. He’d never worn a rug before I got him either.
should I be worried? Should I get the vet?
