Hi all,
After lots of thinking I think I've decided that I would like to get a two ponies from an auction to bring on and join our team.
I already have 4 horses/ponies of varying disciplines and heights and due to my current two stepping up to BE100, I have put them all on a DIY livery yard with excellent facilities to help with training as we have no arena at home! Therefore meaning I have a field and two stables empty just sitting here being wasted!
I would ideally like to get something that I can back and bring on which will be suitable for my younger sister who in a few years will be to big for our beloved family pony (who will never be going anywhere!!). I will be going to the sales with my instructor to help me select a couple of ponies as it will be my first time.
Sooo.. What auctions are there in the south east and have a max journey of 2hrs from Berkshire?
Also what should be looking for when buying them? I have already decided I will get them both vetted with the vet that is onsite and I would want to have a feel down their legs etc before hand. I am thinking I would like two Native breeds like a NF or similar due to their nature and versatility.
TIA :)

Have you thought about Beaulieu Rd Sales? Link is here: http://www.nfls.org.uk/sales.htm Beaulieu is just about 2 hours from Newbury when travelling in a box.

I'm not sure you can get a pony vetted prior to the sale and if I did buy there again I would
a) keep them really well isolated when I got them home. Sales are traumatic for the ponies who are used to living on the Forest and some have been carriers of strangles.
b) be aware that they may not understand fences and just lob themselves at any they see just to get away from all that has happened.
