Hello,

I have a friend who is looking for her first horse, a bombproof, 14.2-15 hh good in traffic happy hacker - have been screening the ads but all seem to be above her budget (max £2500) - anyone got any ideas?

Unfortunately they are like hens teeth!! I posted not that long ago about looking for something like that for hubbie - looking ofr something a little bit bigger though about 15hh - 15.2hh. I have one on trial at the moment and he is not perfect by any stretch. He is too big, skin and bone terrible hooves and 15 yr old. He is also an ISH (posted previously that he was TB but have passpost now and he is ISH) not the hairy cob I had in mind. Anything I have seen for sale that fits the bill is about 4K euro

Good luck if your friend can find one!!!!

Yeah i'd say you'd be lucky to find one for 2500. Happy hackers are very popular and they can fetch quite a good price.

I'd say look at safecobs.com but they all seem to be 4k plus.

It may be worth your while looking for an older horse, possibly retiring from a riding school. Our first horse (30 years ago!) was retiring from being a landau horse in Blackpool, he was not going to win any competitions, but was an amazingly safe hack for my sister and me. He was at least 12 and had some lumps and bumps, but was a total star, worth getting one into it's teens.
