I would probably put her on a calmer rather than a sedative or you could give her oxyshot but people have mixed results with this and it does't always work. Speak to your vet for their advice.
Thanks any calmer in particular? she's super duper at home and I've shown her indoors most of the winter, this was our first time on grass, and we had the most horrendous time of being cut up, boxed in etc, lack of experience on both of our parts, but she just exploded and went up in the air, we were both ok but it could have been nasty, I scared it happens again, so i'm going to get her out to some shows without competing, but I would like to try some sort of supplement/seddative for my peace of mind!
Blue chip Karma's been recommended to me by someone on here, but went to the tack shop for it and she doesn't do that one, reckoned Equine America So kalm is better so they only sell that. I've used a syringe one for one off's (about £13 for 3 doses) and they do a powder for putting in feed which is about £37 for 32 doses. They recommend one dose per day with an extra before competitions. I've just started on this and he was certainly more chilled in our lesson yesterday!
ETS oh and I tried NAF Tempralax and it didn't make jot of difference to mine, waste of money!
Another one here for So Kalm paste , just give (like a wormer) an hour before comp and should make her a bit more chilled but not dopey , the paste is better for us because at home he is fine
