SAD. Exactly why fireworks should not be on public sale. Organised displays wouldn't stop all accidents, but at least everyone would get fair warning. Bet this wasn't the only horse/animal injured either (just probably worth the most).

How awful! I hate fireworks- they should be banned! The muppet next door to me lets of huge ones and my house shakes with them. My poor dogs are scared of them.

There are a lot of houses over the road from my stables and let them off, some people also let them off in the direction of the field. Thankfully my boy and his gf are good when it comes to fireworks and take themselves off to the corner of a field (on a big slope) which is just surrounded by other fields.

Cannot believe some people do not consider that people have animals and need warnings, if people cannot give horse owners notice of the fireworks they should not have them

I think that it is Nick Saville's son. They have Panama sport Horses.

That's correct... I used to be taught by Nick. His partner Carole showjumps. Lovely set up they've got... it surprises me a firework could get near enough as they don't exactly live in the midst of a load of houses.

Hope the horse is okay.

A friend of mine lost his pony years ago when they pulled up to get some grub in a shop on the way home from a training show with the horse box attached. Some fluder tossed a firwork into the box and poor Reuben had to be destroyed. God thats so long ago (maybe 8-9yrs?) but I vividly remember that day. It was the first time wed seen the "new pony" and it was his first show. He had jumped really really well. He was a stunner, a bay 14.2hh 4yo connemara x tb.
This happened even though fireworks are illegal in this country. However it took until this year for proper tough sentences to be attached to the crime.

I am sick to bloody death of fireworks. We went through it on fireworks night, fair enough, now everyone feels an urge to let them off for new years, for birthdays etc etc, it F***S me off big time!!

New years eve they woke up my 7 year, we live in a quiet road but it was like incendury devices going off in our garden. My little one woke up terrified and it went on for hours.

The new licencing laws are rubbish and make no difference in my opinion.

In this day and age they must be able to think up something more imaginative!

I think all fireworks should be large providers who have the property H&S certificates and hold them in large venues where people expect them. I fed up of cleaning rockets out of my garden and having to go up every five minutes to check my horses are ok!

RANT OVER

This poor horse, what a waste!

i think they should only be sold for proper displays! my friend chris couldnt go out on new years eve, because people around where he lives were going to let off fireworks, and his dog gets so scared that they have to get trainquilisers from the vet.
