Hi,

I'm getting married at the end of April and would love to carry Jamins shoe with me down the aisle. Has anyone done this with their horses shoe? How did you go about cleaning it and did you decorate it?

Thank you x

A bit different, but I did my friends horseshoe for her, I asked the farrier to clean it for me (he heated it up and shaped it so it was nice and equal. Then i got some floristry ribbin (with the wires each side), my friend didnt have a colour scheme as such, but her bouquet was white flowers with green ribbons, so I used white & green ribbon - i threaded the ribbons through the clench holes, the green ribbon was joined in the bow at the top of the shoe, and the blue left a lot longer and again in a bow so it could be carried... she has it hanging on the wall above her new babies cot now! :)

ETA - on the day, i managed to thread some gypsophellia through with the ribbons too, looked lovelly

Hi there!

I have decorated quite a few for weddings.......cheaper than a present and more personal!

wire brush as much of the muck and rust off as you can. Clean out ALL the nail holes (I use a used shoe). Spray with Hammorite spray paint in your choice of colour - I think Silver (hammered) is particularly nice, at least 3 coats on both sides. Then buy fabric flowers that can be threaded into holes and tied behind with florists wire in the colour of your chosing. Use ribbon to hang up. I also attach varying lenghts of pearl beads (very fine ones) to hand off the bottom and thin ribbons.........

All my ponies have their own decorated in 'their' colours hanging in bedroom..including ponies over the rainbow bridge.....

Must work out how to post pictures!!!!!!!! :D

Would absolutely love to see pictures! Jamin was my world and is still so important to me that it feels right she plays a part in our special day and part of her walks up the aisle with me :)

Hey, I know this isn't exactly like having the shoe itself, but i have had a necklace and a bracelet made with my horse's shoes imprinted in.
You know the companies that do childrens hand, feet and finger prints... i asked if they did other items and she said she could have a go and OMG they are lovely. I sent a scanned image and photos of my boys shoes to her and she worked her artwork on them. The necklace is a heart pendant with the shoe print and his name and the bracelet is a round pendant attached to a charm which fits on my pandora bracelet with his shoe one side and name on other.
So you could look at getting something like this done too then when you aren't holding the shoe on the day you know you have him still there.

If you want pics of details let me know...

oo and congrats on wedding :-) x

We used to give the bride one of Bruno's shoes as a gift/luck charm when we did weddings, just cleaned up and hammerited!

Here is pics of my necklace and bracelet. (Joey's name is on the back of the bracelet pendant)

I think they are priceless pieces of jewellery and i wear them all the time :-)
My sister has one of her boy (which sadly was pts last year) on a tear drop pendant. So many to choose from!!
I had them made by a lady called Penny (i can pm you her email if you like) who works for www.smallprint.com
(The horse shoes arent advertised on the website). I saw them at Newbury show a few years back and just said 'shame nobody does this kind of thing with horse shoes' and she heard and said she loved a challenge! x

They are lovely, thank you! I'm going to give it a go :)

I have some of the flowers you've used HM, so will give it a go and upload the pics on here.

Thank you so much. Wish me luck ;) x

Good Luck! The thing is, apart from the spraying.......(and you can always spray over the colour if you change your mind), you can have several attempts at them. I have often taken one apart and changed my mind about the placing of the flowers/ribbons etc....

It is also a lovely reminder to keep of both the wedding and the horse! :D
