Hi All, does anyone use a horse sitting service ie someone who will come and look after the neddy's whilst you are away?

Just wondered what sort of price you pay and whats included?

Thanks

Hiya

There is a girl at my new yard that does a nanny service. She charges £6.00 an hour, which should cover all the jobs that need doing.

My sister does this, she looks after all the animal's for people ! she loves her job

I do horse sitting, and usually house sitting and dog/cat etc sitting aswell. What I charge depends on a few factors, like how many horses, do they want me to stay in the house, any other pets that need to be minded, do they want the horse exercised, are the horse in or out, can I bring my own horses or do I need to travel home to exercise mine aswell. I usually charge by the day, for an example; 4 ponies all living out, to go in once a day to check them over, 15 min drive away, exercise 2 of them (lunge or hack), charge 40 euro a day for 2 weeks. Another example, 4 horses/ponies all in, 6 dogs, stay in house overnight, turn ponies out, exercise horse, have to travel home twice a day (20 min) to do my own yard, 120 euro a day. It depends on a lot of things, I could charge for the hour but I find people prefer if I charge for the day, or sometimes per week. I sometimes also just go and mind peoples yards for the day, if they are going to a show or just want a day off. Again it depends on the number of horses and if they want them ridden, turned out etc, but usually between 80-120 euro a day.
