Posted my response but suspect the office filter removes it.
Having read some of the responses in the DM I said there was nothing remotely witty or clever about this accident, and that the horse was very lucky not to be killed, and hopefully no injuries, either physical or mental, will appear later.
Have to say tho, regardless of the way the DM have worded it, and just looking at the pics.. i wouldn't want to have anything to do with a horse willing to do that all on it's own.. prob better off with some lead in its head.
Cant see that horse bucking like that ever again, it for no other reason than it must of done something to its back muscles!!
The man that owns the yard was telling me about this today, he was most impressed with it, but then he is 80 and offered to shoot someones horse the other day!
just tried to leave a negative comment about the treatment of that picture - funnily enough it wont seem to allow me - the only comments actually posted are similarily light-hearted or anti-racing/anti-keep animals........hmmmm. I wonder why.....
There's also only 36 comments so far - likely story.....!
QR Well all I can say is poor horse. I certainly didn't think it was spectacular or justified being published in a newspaper like that. I think the story may have seemed more sympathetic if words like 'she would have got a ten in gymnastics' ( or words to that affect) had not been used.
That filly must have been in a sheer panic to do what she did and judging by the position of the girth under her loins no wonder she was acting in the way that she did to try and dislodge the saddle.
I would be very surprised if she has not got torn back muscles at the very least after her acrobatics.
If I had the means to house that filly I most certainly would and to be honest I feel upset by suggestions that the horse would be better off with lead in her head!

This has been in every paper this week!!!
The horse flipped over as it unseated jockey.......someone had not done the girth up properly and the saddle slipped back causing the mare to panic.
I think having it pts for reacting in a natural way to what happened a very silly opinion, now having the groom pts is a different matter........
Could not agree more with you Pudpud. Good to see you back too
If anyone had taken a look at the slideshow pictures on The Sun website I am sure they would see just how awful the saddle position was after it had slipped, it was resting down her backside. I did try to post a comment on The Mail's website as I thought the words used in the first paragraph were well out of order. However The Sun's diabolical use of words to describe the incident was even worse. Sheer gutter press tactics but then again both are tabloids are they not, so I suppose we could not expect any better!
