This seems to be happening a bit more frequently and is starting to get me down a bit. :( Fabio has took to spooking in one corner of the arena, but only ever on one rein, not from the other. There are fields behind us so its very open. The only thing i can think that he is spooking at is in the field not directly to the side of us but the one that is beside that and also runs behind our paddocks. The farmer has one of them windmills there. I'm guessing it must be that as he doesn't do the spooking everytime, so guessing if its turning round more maybe thats why he's doing it?? The rein he's spooking on is the one where he'd see it all the way down that long side.
Anyway, was in the today and had been going round fine then he decided he'd throw a spook whilst we were in canter coming to that corner. As he'd been fine in walk and trot i wasn't anticipating it so know it wasn't me giving off any nervy or expectant vibes to him. I always carry on and make him work in that corner when he does it until he stops.
So, looking for tips really? I'm thinking that maybe next time i should shoulder-in when we're working down that side? Maybe combo of take his mind off it and also less able to gleg at it! Any other tips much appreciated!
