On Sunday my horse tied up. Came back from a hack and he started to lift his back leg repeatedly and hold it for a second and then relax again. I could see that the muscles had gone into spasm. I thought he may be tying up but wasnt sure because he was lifting the leg rather than refusing to move it. He started sweating and breathing heavy, so I called the vet. Vet thought that he had tied up and gave bute and a muscle relaxant. Blood tests show it was definately a mild case of Azorturia. So he was box rested Monday on advice from vet, he went out for an hour yesterday and has gone out this morning.
My worry is that he still seems a little stiff on his hind leg, not lame as such but just stiff. Would you expect to see this is if was only a mild case of tying up? Vet says it is to be expected and will come back if not improved by the weekend.
