Horse strides?

Ok, now i am gonna sound stupid, but i have always had ponies and now have my horse so need to know stridings!

what is the gap between trotting poles?

any help appreciated, as i don't want my baby getting confused!!

You will have to see what works best with your horse but a rough guide would be 4ft 6ins or 1.35m apart.

I use the highly scientific method of walking placing one foot in front of the other, trotting poles I use at between 5 and 7 feet (I have size 6 feet!).

I use 5 of my feet and i'm a size 5, but like others have said it depends on the horse, you may have to adjust slightly.

I use 4.5ft for a normal trot, but you can go longer or shorter if you are trying to get the horse to lengthen or collect
