My gelding has recently started coming in from the field with cuts to the inside of his legs due to striking into himself. I know nothing else is kicking him as he is turned out on his own but with company next door.

He definetely has no lack of coordination difficulties or ataxia present. Does anyone know why at the age of 13 (had him 6 years) he should suddenly start doing this?

A dirty sheath can cause them discomfort that may lead to kicking with the back legs? Or perhaps your farrier has altered the fit of his hind shoes slightly??

My cob is having a similar problem at the mo - with him its fly bites and then itching them with his back hooves
