When schooling my horse he continuously twists his body on straight lines so his hinds are on the inside track. Can be reluctant to go into canter also.
He is a very well schooled WB, isn’t a rider issue as also happens with my sharer.
Recently had hocks injected, saddles checked and physio.

Has anyone else had this issue? Thinking possible SI because of the canter but wondering if the straight line trouble is also a symptom?
Thank you

So what you have is a crooked horse. Most horses have a natural tendency to be crooked. Now this can be improved/corrected by training and strengthening it can also be exacerbated by lameness, poor tack, sub-optimal training.

It’s not a straightforward XYZ situation.

Given you have hock issues then this could most definitely be a veterinary issue. But apart from saying that it’s impossible advise further over a forum. What you need is a good orthopaedic vet first. Then depending on that a good rider/trainer to help you & sharer in conjunction with whatever other professionals that are appropriate depending on what vet finds.

Please get him thoroughly checked by a good orthopedic vet before you start straightening work, if you can. I had a 4 year old where trainers and I worked hard to correct his preferred bum-in way of moving, and succeeded. At 8 he was moving straight but lacked stamina. Then one day he bucked in a canter change, the first buck he'd ever done, and the x rays taken showed he had developed deformed pasterns as a foal.
