Just had a phone call from OH, a friends horses at the yard has managed to get herself stuck in the very thick hedge surrounding the field. Horse is getting on a bit and has a fragile rear end due to arthritis, her owner is in pieces.

Vet and fire brigade on the way vibes very would be much appreciated

Thanks everyone,

Vet already there, mare is very calm atm, but just about to sedate her. FB just arrived, lifting crew are on the way, biggest worry is what the poor old girl has done to her back end, as she is well down in the ditch under the hedge:(

Will update when I know more

Thanks C x and everyone else for their thoughts.

Just heard from OH, FB are cutting her out by hand, not an easy job, its about 14 ft of thick Hawthorn hedge, dont want to use cutting equipment to keep her as calm as possible.

So far they think there is an injury to front leg, so I am off to the yard with lorry keys incase transport in needed.

Will update later.

Any more news yet? hope everything is going well with the rescue.

Just to give some hope though, our 30yo decided he would do that too, we found him upside down in the ditch under a hedge. But after a quick check from the vet to make sure he wasn't broken (from what he could tell), removing the hedge and fence, and being pulled out by a tractor (with straps round his front feet) he stood up on the second attempt, and bar a few scratches was completely fine. Fingers crossed for you all :)
