Hi all. I've casually advertised my mare for sale but im picky where she goes and as yet havent found her the right home. The time has come that i really need to get sorted and i'm wondering if any one has any experience or knows of any horse that would be an ideal swap...

My horse is 15.3 7yo mare. Absolutely fantastic all rounder, she has been out competing in all disciplines always placed dressage, loads of 1sts and 2nds. She loves jumping, never stops. XC she is awesome. She has evented BE intro placed 9th her first time out. 100% hacking, alone and in company etc i really cant fault her. Same when ridden after some time off.

BUT i'm looking for something bigger and younger. Idealy to make between 16-17hh and 3-5 years old. To compete in BYEH and event. Must have the potential to go at least novice eventing, so good movement and natural ability to jump. No experience needed. Un broken horses would be ideal!

Im in North Yorkshire. Any ideas?! Should i just bite the bullet and pay to advertise her properly, stick to the free sites or ask around?! im not very experienced selling horses, to be honest this will be the first one i've ever sold and i am really struggling :( i love her to pieces

Good luck in selling. Ive hit a wall with mine, im considering breeding a foal rather than selling as i cant bare to let her go

Swapping is a good idea in theory but so unlikely that you will find the right one for you and the other person suited by yours. If you go through a dealer, which would give you no control over where your mare goes, you would have more options.
I would advertise your mare, she sounds lovely and is sure to attract some serious interest, once she sells you then are free to find what you really want.
The PC site would be where I would put her, or H&H or Horsequest, the BE site is also useful.

I would aim her at juniors and PC. It's the smaller horses that go quickly in our yard whe they come in for sale and your mare has a proven competition record. I would hang on for Febriuary and advertise her properly then but honestly think she will be easy to sell on.

I'd consider a swap..

I've got a 16.1 TB (pretty chunky sort), who i feel totally over horsed with and not enough experience behind by back to bring him to his full potential, although he's 9 (came out of racing in jan, i got him in the march) also i'm based down south which might be too far, he's a very good weight and top line is building up lovely. He's moves beautifully on the flat, but I haven't jumped him yet. I did buy to hopefully event him.

I think it is realistic keep searching and looking through word of mouth normally works a treat, try contacting some breeders in your local area :)
