Does anyone know of a horse swimming pool near me ?Staffordshire/warwickshire im in tamworth!? Pref a circular one ! i prefer the sound if these save the horse getting hot cold hot cold ect...
Does anyone take there horses swimming any tips or advice would be nice? x

Someone told me the other day that horses swimming isn't very good for them as they do it with their head in the air and the neck/back in an unnatural postition. The horse treadmills with built in Spa are supposed to be better.

Don't know how true this is though. I used to swim my ponies in the sea when I was a kid - only advice avoid windsurfers

There was striaght one near Balsall Common where i used to take mine but that was 10 years ago now so not sure if it's still there.
They didn't have a change to get cold as the out and turn around only took seconds and remeber the water in them is usually cold anyway.
Personally I think it's great excersise and really helps build up muscle, also points out any problems and weaknesses very quickly.

I think that is true to an extent, though I swam my mare on advise of Vet and physio as a treatment to help a problem rather than for the sake of it so it certainly has its uses.

The new spa type treadmills are supposed to be fantastic and I would propbably use one rather than swimming if ever needed in future.

There's one not far from you...it's at a Point to Point yard & they have a round pool with central island......I know they take bookings for people to use it but have no idea of price. I'll try & find the details & let you have them
