Has anyone noticed a patern??? I know it is nearly impossible to tell but are they targeting mares more than geldings???

Do you think freeze branding has made anydifference and has any branded horses been tagged????
Have any horses gone missing after the tags were removed????
Has the weather made any difference?? ie have your horses still been tagged if it was a really wet night???

and is any one as terrified as me??????????? My friends horse was tagged last night. he is only 1 mile from me and the stables are infront of the house. I'm so worried, just trying to figure out what they are looking for. any info welcome. thanks you

Yup - it winds up easily suggestible people!

I've added my answer to your other thread on it here:

Did you read any of the other threads on the "tagging"?

Read them, then think carefully about how people can tag horses without waking any of the three Dobermans? Then throw into the doubts about whether someone actually did it and it wasn't just the wind the comment I've made several times that my sociable short-maned valuable horses have never been tagged but my virtually untouchable long-maned elderly retired Welsh frequently is. What I hadn't said until now is that the two untagged horses aren't freeze-marked, the Welsh is! He's also unrugged so his mark is very visible . . . .

Then look up the definition of "scare-mongering" in the dictionary, blush and feel a bit more secure about how safe your horse is. If it isn't freezemarked then put your energy into arranging a session!

What Jemima_too said.

It's not unlike that time a few months back (a year?!) that people who looked

like they had eastern european accents, were stealing horses and putting 6 in a transit van at a time... and they were in every county on the same night, which I thought was impressive.

Alot of these tags are just tangles not plaits, just use your comman sense when deciding if they are a man made 3 sectioned plait or just a wind tangle then take action on which ever is needed. You will either have to move the horse or buy some de-tangle spray.

I agree that there is a lot of scaremongering going on, however I am a member of our local police watch (SW area), and the police have confirmed that horses have been tagged and subsequently stolen, therefore to be vigilant and take it seriously if your horse is tagged.

I think its just common sense at the end of the day and you do all you can to keep your horse/ yard secure, although if someone really wants to steal something they will no matter what - might just be more effort for them.

Can you supply the proof please? There have been no confirmed cases ( actually, I think maybe one) to date, according to Police forces across the country.
Thanks.
