Horse thief gets 4 yrs

This afternoon, convicted horse thief Tony Thackaberry was sentenced to 4 yrs imprisonment for stealing 5 horses (inc 2 foals) and a horsebox.

Although this is not an official press release (this will come within the next wk), I thought you guys would want to know that justice has been served.

Getting this to court and getting a guilty verdict will have taken a lot of work from the police, the CPS and no doubt many others so thank you to them.

SharonH77. Your question is better directed to the prison service and probation, perhaps even your MP or the HS.

Spudlet. Yes it took an enormous amount of effort and hard work by a few people in various departments to achieve this. Thank you for your words of support.
 
Sadly, the horses have never been found.

There were some pictures posted in the stolen horse section in Aug 2008, but I cant look that far to link it back.
 
Do you know that is the first time I have heard of a horse thief being convicted, I know of many horses being recovered one recently nearby me. You never hear of the people in possesion of a stolen horse giving their excuse of why they never checked the horses identity and cannot remember who or where they bought the horse from.


There are of course people who innocently buy a stolen horse and I truly feel for them when it is repossessed, Its great news that at last someone is held responsible and punished for horse theft.

Well done to the authorities for getting it to court which would not of been an easy task, and heres hoping a few more cases get there too.
 
We are starting a new appeal to try and find the horses and are in the process of making a new poster which will be done asap (just waiting for some pics). In the meantime please check out the stolenhorseregister (July 2008) for info.
PC Davies has been amazing and the owner has put up with a lot over the last 18 or so months, I can not go into details but the theft of her horses and death of her dog which is also connected has been torture for her.
I think she deserves our help as getting this scumbag to court has not been easy and all horse owners owe her a debt for sticking to her guns.
