Can someone tell me the regulations on the tyres for horse trailers? I know that on cars the front set of wheels have to been the same size and the back set have to be the same size but the front and back set together dont have to be the same size. Is it like this for horses trailers? Do the patternes on the tyres have to be the same and what about the spare, dos that have to match too?

I ask because last night we had the spare wheel and another wheel off the back axel of my trailer stolen:mad:, the police are ment to be dealing with it but you know how it goes. I doubt we will ever recover the tyres, but we need to replace then now anyway.

I think that trailer tyres should be the same type on each end of the axle. They could be crossply or radial but don't mix them on the same axle. Actually cross ply are better on a trailer otherwise on a double axle trailer as radial tyres they tend to fight against each other & scrub.

Don't use car tyres on a trailer, they cannot take the loading that would be in the trailer. Speak to a tyre fitters & they will advise you on which you need.
