My chap is provisionally booked in for vet assessment/gait analysis with a specialist orthopaedic vet next week, but I haven't managed to arrange transport. Does anyone have any recommendations for reasonably priced transporters, who will be happy to hang around for a couple of hours while he gets prodded, poked, scanned etc. Horse lives in Bourne End, Bucks, and the vet clinic is just off J6 of the M3.

look on www.findhorsetransport.org

You may find self drive a better option!

Most horse insurance companies will also cover your transport costs if using a legal/registered transporters-off the top of my head NFU, kbis and scottish do

Good luck with the scans

Thats interesting about the transport - I'm with KBIS, and not having to shell out loads for the trip would be a huge help!

Can highly recomend Donna at http://www.cthorsetransport.co.uk/. Used her many times and have always been very happy.
There will be a waiting charge though.

Word of warning, might have been a one off but she let me down the day before a long journey, which had been booked in for over a month.

Was not impressed and would never use her again. She is the reason I used http://horsetransportnetwork.com/ ,as I had to find someone literally at the last minute!

As it was found someone cheaper and pony came home fine, and saved me over £100!

Of course you should consider that not everyone has good experiences with every company Auslander but I can honestly say I used Donna for vet trips multiple times with no problem.
I have also used Wentworth horses boxes for self drive. It was ok but my experience with this one was the night before I was due to go on a horsey holiday to Norfolk I was told the ramp was broken and i couldn't take it. She offered me a 7.5 which I can't drive because of my licence. Luckily I got one from somewhere in Herts atacanter but I wouldn't say I'd never use them again....things happen out of our control sometimes.

Mariposa, when was that? I know Donnas lorry broke a while ago and I was lucky that it was fixed in time for my booking, but I remember her saying she had to cancel someone at short notice.

I'm completely open minded - Lorries break down...
Have put a quote request on horsetransportnetwork already, but the quotes I've received are a bit mindboggling!
