Horse transport in Essex

Hi

I live just south of Colchester and wondered if anyone can recommend a reasonable horsebox I can hire. I need to transport my horse to Hemel Hempstead in Herts (one way) in a couple of weeks and I've had some extortionate quotes so far.

They list all the self drive lorries on there. You can also do a quote on there to send to all the legal registered transporters on there.

I would expect to pay £200-£300 for an individual load.

Do not forget the transporters do have serious costs to keep their lorries legal:-

safety checks every 4 weeks (500-1500)
all the insurances-hire & reward, employers, public, and care custody and control
good drivers (these are hard to find!!)

Not forgetting the new 2007 laws and all the lorries will need to be inspected!
