Getting a bit ahead of myself here as I haven't even been to see the horse yet!

But does anyone know aproximately how much it would cost for a horse transport company to pick up from Swansea and drop off in Berkshire - about a 7 hour round trip by the time the horse has been loaded etc.

I know that it would be cheaper to hire a company close to one of the locations, so any recomendations would be great.

Thanks

rate is usually £1 a mile as a rough guide. I paid £400 to bring my horse from Anglesey - a round trip of 400miles for the transporter. You can sometimes hitch a lift with racehorse transporters for less but this appears to be done by word of mouth so you need to phone transporters and ask about a bit.

I rang a place in Kelso that had been recommended to transport a horse 362 miles and they quoted £250 which included an over night stop. Ah, I remember what it was called, Eric Gillie. They do anywhere in the country as they are going up and down all the time. They appeared very efficient and the person I spoke to uses them all the time to get her to endurance events.
