horse travelling by plane....

I've taken horses to the airports and it's a real insight. We've had ones which we've walked up a long ramp into the plane and then they've built the crates around them. We've also had the ones which are crated and then winched up by a forklift type vehicle. They seem to adapt well and most of the Aussie and USA horses which come here year after year to race become old hat. The same as the UK horses here going to Aus, USA, UAE, HK, Japan etc. The ones I saw were all stood on a cardboard box type footing and that absorbs all the pee etc. It must stink by the time they land! Fluids are the most important thing for them and plenty of roughage. It's amazing really that they take it so well.
