Hi

Can anyone help, I have noticed when riding Honey that she is tripping alot she nearly fell flat on her face this morning and it feels like her knee joints are giving out. I also had to get off on the way back this morning because she felt lame walking and trotting, when I got her back to the field I trotted/walked her up and there is some stiffness in her back leg but nothing major, but im more concerned about the tripping/joints giving out?

Any suggestions? She is a TB x 15.3hh 20 year old mare

Thanks

I hate to say it but it could be arthritis in carpal joints??

Dont panic though cos I have a 10 yr old mare with arthritic knees and while she never tripped and her knees didnt give way she went lame recently with poss of being retired.

I contacted a herbalist and 10 weeks later we are riding again going to do some dressage comps soon!

She was also sound on Danilon - one a day - before we got the herbal mix.

I would ring the vet as he will prob xray her joints.

Does sound arthritis related, your vet will be able to confirm. Another tripping related condition is navicular, again your vet will advise.
