My 15yo IDxTB has now been off for 3 months with a DDFT/Check Ligament injury. The past couple of days he has been unable to stretch his neck enough to get it to the floor (i.e. he cannot eat his feed out of a bucket on the floor). Called my physio out tonight and she said that it is quite common for this to happen with tendon injuries. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to help?

I'm not sure of the cause, but this used to happen to my last horse on a yearly basis... always Jan/Feb time - very strange I know. He always came down with virus type symptoms, and couldn't graze or eat from his bucket off the floor... it was awful to watch. One session from the back man (as said in those days) and a course of antibiotics for his virus symptoms seemed to do it? I know they can't pop bones out of place, but it was always linked with the poll area?
Never heard of this being linked with Tendon injuries, but he had DJD in his coffin joint if that could have been any relation? Would def see if your physio can do anything to help?
Sorry... I'm not much use
