Jack cleverly worked out how when on box rest and now thinks that it is hilarious to do so, then stand there with his rope hanging. He wouldn't dare move :D

I never actively encouraged him, and now I've been telling him off, but he just chooses to do it when I'm not there now, every time.

Quite a pointless post, but just so frustrating!

mine does that so i got him a trailer tie to clip up to, so he worked out how to undo that. So now I have a stall chain for him. That works :) He also undoes doors, gates, and lets every other horse out. His best ever trick was removing the head collar of my other horse when they were in the trailer and posted it through the trailer window so when I got to the competition I had one horse with no headcollar.

Mine does that but the oldie unthreads the leadrope inch by inch when she thinks you're not looking, steps to the side so lr isn't under her feet & trots off with her head slightly turned so lr stays out from under her feet. Very rarely does it tho as will only do it when no-ones watching.

Knobberpony does this too.We put the tail of the leadrope through the loop and for some reason this confounds her.I'm sure she'll work a way around it at some point though.

Blinkin' heck, that is one smart but annoying horse! Was it still tied up outside, and if not, what did you do?!

Sheesh!

Mine also does this, I think I should re name her and call her Houdini:D
She is also an expert at opening stable door bolts with her teeth:eek: and letting herself out.
We were obviously far too slow in putting her bucket in one night. She let herself out and wandered over to her neighbour and hung her head over the door to see if she'd got her dinner !
She has also been found merrily stuffing her face in the hay storage area:D
Luckily it we were on a really quiet yard then (3 horses) so no harm done.

My old tb used to untie himself and then go and untie his mate who was standing next to him! I used to find it was best to just thread his rope through and let it hang and not tie a knot, he would then not bother and he never moved when "tied like this". (Obviously this was only when he was in a secure environment).

My TB unties himself, then just stands and waits for me to notice how clever he is, I tie him back up, he undoes it again and again etc. He never moves anywhere, just does it because he can. Such a clever horse!!
