Horse very itchy when clip starts growing back in

Hi everyone.

I have a 10 year old welsh cob who I have only just started clipping last year.
Every time I fully clip her, a week later she gets very itchy around her sides and hates being ridden due to the constant need to itch.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
Is it my clippers? The way I am clipping?

Any help is much appreciated.

One of my Arab's does very similar I think it could be an irritation from the oil but not really sure, I find if I hot cloth him thoroughly with an old flannel every day after clipping he seems less itchy.

I have also wondered if its because the saddle cloth feels different like maybe sticks to his coat more because he only does it with the saddle on.

Thank you! I will try that when I clip her again in January. It really makes me feel guilty for riding her as she is constantly needing to itch - especially under the saddle pad and under the girth.

Why not do a high blanket clip next time?
