Horse walkers or alternatives?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at options for a horse walker or alternative and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the best horse walker companies who also install or any other options which could work?

I have five horses all of whom would use the walker (not necessarily at the same time). I would be looking to put them on the walker from 3-5 times a week depending on turnout levels and time.

If anyone has any suggestions on where/what might suit me the best, please let me know

Pretty sure we have Monarch at work also. They pretty much seem to cater for every budget. The one yard im at has a huge, all covered lovely one that probably cost a fortune. Yard i used to be at had about the most basic (i'd imagine!) Open mesh panel outer, much smaller partitions. The horses had a job to turn around in this one as the compartments were too narrow and the middle ring had points (think haxagon rather than circular shape) so we had a few cuts on very hyper horses. Also the inner ring wasnt floor to ceiling and we had a few incidences of horses grabbing the partition, bouncing it and getting under.
I think the cheaper ones are fine for quiet horses, not great for rehabbing TB's!

Out of interest, do the high winds affect horse walkers when they are situated outside?

Yes a little. They struggle a bit against wind.

And against wet weather which then turns cold so the workings freeze up and they don’t like snow .
I seriously considered a walker here but decided that the cost of decent one was better spent on wages for people to so stuff while I ride the horses .

Just bare in mind That a horse walker may be construed as a good asset for the business rates to charge you high premium

Ours seems to manage ok and we haven't had problems in freezing weather. We got a lever added that disengages it from the motor so when it's not in use it can spin freely and not resist the wind which could cause damage.
